Like just about everything else at the time, the event had been delayed thanks to Melbourne’s lockdowns. But once the doors finally opened, it felt like the entire motion design community had been waiting for exactly this moment: to reconnect, catch up with old friends, meet new faces, and celebrate the incredible work being created across Australia and New Zealand.

As Gold Sponsors, we wanted to do something a little special.

The industry had been through a challenging couple of years, but one thing hadn’t changed, the creativity never stopped. So we reached out to some of our long-time clients and friends in the community, asking them to submit the pieces they were most proud of from the previous year.

The response was incredible.

To bring everything together, we hired music composer Sean Crowley, who created an original score for the project, while video editor and good friend Yael Jáuregui laid down the edit that showcased the breadth of talent across Australia and New Zealand’s motion design community.

The finished reel premiered on the big screen at Node Fest 2022, celebrating not just the work itself, but the artists, studios and freelancers who kept creating through some pretty unusual times. Seeing the audience react to the reel was one of the highlights of the event for us.

2022 marked our first year as Gold Sponsor. Supporting Node Fest has always been about giving back to a community that has supported us from day one. If our sponsorship helped keep the event running, and maybe even helped keep the after-party beer taps flowing, we’d call that a success!
